It is the mission of Genesis House, Inc. to provide safe shelter for homeless pregnant women, transitional shelter for homeless mothers and their children, and student mothers with their children while the mothers complete their education. Genesis House, Inc. is committed to providing a safe, supportive, caring environment. Education, self-discipline, self-reliance, and independence from the welfare system are earnestly promoted. Counseling, personal improvement classes, and appropriate health care are obtained for all residents. Classes in childbirth and parenting are provided as needed.

Genesis House I can accommodate up to six mothers with children, who are homeless or in transition. Some of these mothers are also pregnant. These residents stay fairly short-term while they arrange more permanent living arrangements or make educational plans for themselves. If the mother enrolls in school, and she has been a responsible resident while at Genesis House I, she can move to Genesis House II where she can reside as long as she is attending school.

Genesis House II provides a home for homeless mothers (18 years of age and older) and their children, while the mothers complete their education and work toward financial and emotional independence. These mothers can be working on finishing high school, vocational school, or college. Eight mothers with children can be sheltered in this home.

Genesis House III provides shelter for six homeless, pregnant women. These residents often move to Genesis House II after delivery if they are enrolled in school.

All three shelter homes are located in Melbourne, Florida. The geographic area served by Genesis House, Inc. is mainly Brevard County and surrounding counties. Occasionally there are residents who have been referred from distant counties in Florida or from out of state.

Genesis House, Inc. is supported by donations and is a 501(c)(3) organization, so donations are tax deductible. Also, United Way pledges can be designated to be sent to Genesis House, Inc.
